Baseball is a sport played by two teams, and each team has nine players. The goal of this bat-and-ball game is to hit the thrown ball with a bat, and score runs by touching the series of four bases that are arranged at the corners of 90ft diamond or square. Players of batting team take turns to hit against the pitcher of fielding team, and this team tries to get hitters out in several ways and prevent them from scoring. The pair of turns, one at the field and one at the bat by each team constitutes the inning, and a single game consists of nine innings.
Rules of baseball vary from league to league, but the basic gameplay is quite similar. The batter bats at the home plate, and moves counterclockwise to first, second and third base, and finally back home in order to score the run. After three outs, teams switch roles, and in case of tie after nine innings, extra innings are played to conclude the game. Four common ways that defense teams can use to out the offensive player are strikeouts where hitter misses three pitches, fly outs where defensive player catches the ball before it hits the ground, force outs where defensive player catches the ball and reaches the base before the runner and tag outs where runner gets touched with the ball or the glove that has ball in it.
Baseball has no clock, and to win, the team has to out the last batter. Baseball has no clock, and to win, the team has to out the last batter. In baseball game, aggressive strategy is usually he most advantageous, and there is no reward for conservative batting. The defense wears softball gloves fitting in the hand in order to catch the ball which is almost three inches in diameter and offense uses the wooden bat to hit it.
There are many different ways to out the hitter such as flied out where fielder catches the ball hit by the hitter without ball getting bounced, strike out where pitcher throws the ball in the strike zone, put out where fielder touches the runner with the ball when he is not standing on the base, and so on. The pitcher stands in the middle of the mound, and begins the action by throwing the ball towards home plate. The innings end when fielding team gets three hitters out, and hitting team takes turn to field, while fielding team takes turn to bat. First baseman, second baseman, shortstop and third baseman are the infielders, and left fielder, center fielder and right fielder are the three outfielders.
In the professional game, there are nine players in each team, and nine innings, where each inning is divided in half. Batting lineup is very carefully chosen by the team members based on the different skills, and as a basic rule, it consists of table setters, sluggers and bottom of lineup. In the game of baseball, the skill of fielding is as important as the hitting skills of the player. Batter gets the hit when he is able to reach the base without getting out, and runs are scored when the player completes the entire diamond.
